About the Jones Thai-English Dictionary
This online resource begins a digital critical edition of a manuscript held by the British Library (catalog number OR. 11828), described simply as:
   THAI-ENGLISH DICTIONARY [40.A.f.]
European paper, cloth bound, 12 x 19 cm, 256 ff. 20 lines per side, 9 cm long.
   Thai and English scripts.

This site contains:
The original manuscript in DjVu format, scanned from microfilm.
 -  A complete digitized copy of the Thai and English texts.
 -  Extensive annotation (still in progress) that provides modern orthography for the Thai entries.
 -  A searchable interface to the English text and both original and modern Thai spellings.
The original manuscript is not always clear, and it contains many orthographic quirks that are not readily rendered in modern Unicode typesetting.  To aid in ongoing scholarship, each entry contains:
 -  The original Thai spelling.  Click on this word to display the original manuscript page.
 -  A modern Thai spelling if available.
 -  The original English definition, retaining archaisms.
 -  A guide for locating the entry in the manuscript (e.g. jones:25.8 indicates entry 8 on page 25).
